Save the...

Emma and I painted our toes pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I have not explained too much about my cancer scare in fear I would scare her.  She knows I have a little scar on my right breast from a small surgery and Mommy is fine.

In my early 20's, newly married and still in college, I found a lump in my right breast.  The only reason I found it was because it was sore.  I went to my doctor who in turn sent me to a specialist.  I saw the doctor who then tried to insert a gigantic needle into my breast to get fluid out.  However no fluid came out.  I could tell by his look, it was not good.  He just told me it was okay but he would need to remove the mass.  What?  Luckily my Mom was there and we both looked at each other in shock.  I started balling and he told me not to worry at my age and with no history of breast cancer that it could be just a mass.

So the following week, I went to Riverside with Erik and my Mom.  I was awake but numb.  I saw nothing, thank goodness.  He removed the mass and on the spot told me that he believed it was not cancer but would have it tested to verify.  The sense of relief was overwhelming.  I started crying and he kept telling me it was okay and I am going to be fine.

I thank God for that moment.  It was agonizing wondering each day, do I have cancer?  I just got married, I do not have any babies, I still have to finish college...I am not ready to face this.  So many women and men face this each day.   It is not fair and not right.  I really hate cancer.  It took away so many of my family and friends.  Why do we not have a cure?

I am reminded daily when I see that tiny scare on my breast that I was given another day.  I admit, sometimes I forget how precious life can be.  My family reminds me of that each and everyday.

Boo At The Zoo

This past Sunday, Erik and I took the kids to the zoo for Boo at the Zoo.  Our Queen of Hearts and Spiderman had a great time and received lots of candy!  It was busy but not as crazy as I thought it would be.

Dancin'...Dancin'...Dancin'...AND the cute little man

This week was Parent Observation week at Emma's dance studio.  I love it since I can take pictures and video of Emma's dances.  However she is not too thrilled of me taking all the pictures.  She keeps telling me that I have enough...really???  No...I will never have enough and I love to watch her in her element.

Last weekend she took a workshop with Jason, a broadway dancer from Beauty & The Beast.  She was so excited and told me she learned a lot from him.  Her studio brings in professional dancers from time to time to give them a sense of what it is like to be a professional dancer and learn from them.

Also yesterday, Ethan got his new glasses.  He was super excited about getting them but not so much keeping them on all day.  They are also Transitions since he LOVES to wear sunglasses, I thought this might help.  I think now we got him to understand that it is important but he is 5 and only thing important to him is playing soccer and racing cars and trucks on the floor!

Signs of fall...pumpkins and soccer!

The Kyre family attempted their annual trip to Freeman's Farm to pick pumpkins.  However in our busy lives, we could only pick a rainy Sunday afternoon to go.  Go figure...but the kids were determined to find the perfect pumpkin, see the farm animals and ride the hayride (well we skipped the hayride.)  Partly due to I was not about to be freezing AND wet...that's just me!

Ethan's last soccer game was yesterday.  He absolutely loved playing soccer, loved learning with his coaches and loved playing with his teammates...of course he had bouts of not paying attention and catching leaves as the fell from the trees.  It is so funny to see these little 4 and 5 year olds run to kick the ball only to stare at it to see who will kick it first.  Ethan had a great time and we have enrolled him in indoor soccer in November so we will see how that goes!

On your mark, get set, go!

On Sept. 21st, Fouse had their annual Walk-A-Thon to help their PTO raise money for various projects. Ethan walked around the Genoa track with his friends and I even walked with him as well.  Then we ate lunch with his sister and we walked again.  Emma was even nice enough to "let" her brother walk with her and her friends.  It was a nice day for a walk....
