Grand Prize Winner

Our Miss Emma decided to enter an Arbor Day Poster Contest presented by Westerville City for 5th Grade Students in Westerville City Schools along with a special awards for 3rd graders in 1 particular school.  It is a contest the art teachers have the students draw or paint about Arbor Day.  Emma worked a little at home but decided she needed more color so worked on it at school in art class.  I did not see the final product.

Received a letter last Friday indicating that Emma was the 1st Place Winner for the entire contest!  She was over the moon happy since she really loves art and wants to make some kind of career in the art field.

Today was the day Emma and I met other winners, parents, teachers and the Westerville Arborist at the Everal Barn for a ceremony.  The arborist talked about trees in Westerville and our oldest tree is 364 years old at the Otterbein Cementery.  I did not know this so we will make a trip over to see it!  Lived here most of my life and had no idea!  Awards were presented with t-shirts, trees to plant and Emma received gift certificates to McDonald's and to Half Price Books!  She is very excited about that since she wants some summer reading books!

Westerville will plant a tree in her honor at her school with the plaque at a later date.  It is raining and muddy so hoping it will be soon!  She cannot wait!

You cannot imagine how proud I am of her and all of her hard work this year!  I am so happy her work was recognized.  She needed some self confidence and this helped!

Exciting times!

This weekend was full of craziness but fun!  Friday night Emma performed in the 1st 4th Friday in Westerville for her dance studio.  It was a beautiful night but quite windy!

Saturday Emma had auditions at her dance studio and Ethan had soccer!  Busy day but both kids had a great time.  Ethan's opponent team had some kind of mix-up on the time so his team scrimmaged each other.  Fun times!

Sunday was a fun day!  We walked for March for Babies in the morning.  We raised $570 for our team which is the most since I started a team 3 years ago!  Normally I just raise the $ myself.  Plus it was 20 years since Erik and I have been walking and raising $ for this charity!  Kids had a great time and it was a beautiful day!

Then after the walk we came home and hung outside!  It was a gorgeous day so we could not waste the day inside!

Mommy & Emma Day & Parent Observation Week

Another busy week of sports at the Kyre Household this week!  We all love it but it can be exhausting not only for the kiddos but me too!

Last weekend Emma and I made our Saturday girls day.  We went to church to make "Banditz" for Nationwide Children's Hospital.  Jen Hames started making these for her son who was diagnosed with cancer and soon realized many kids needed them.  It was a lot of fun and felt wonderful to help this family help others.  Then we went to lunch and shopping at Babies R Us for a "dance Mom" friend of ours who is having her 3rd girl!  Her other 2 girls dance with Emma.  We love shopping for baby stuff which of course leads to..."Mommy I want a baby sister!"  I always thought about having a 3rd child but Erik and I felt our family was complete with her and Ethan.  Both of them are our miracle babies and I just felt I could not pray for another child since so many parents are waiting for theirs.  This is why we got a kitten!  Which Buckeye is NOT a kitten anymore but a chubby kitty and they love him too!

Here is a collage of our day...

All this week was parent observation week at dance.  Emma has dance 3 days a week so it was a looong night but great to see her in her element!  Here is a collage of her dances that I observed and tried to capture her in her dances!  Of course now she has told me that I have enough pics and to try not to embarrass her with all the pictures!  Too late...I love watching her dance!  So get used to it Miss Emma!
